Play Music on The Porch Day

August 29, 2020 @ 12:00 pm - 3:00 pm

“Play Music on The Porch Day” comes to Port Sanilac! Play Music on the Porch day began in 2013 with just 100 musicians.  By 2019, 1000’s of musicians from 70 countries and over 750 cities from around the world participated!  And this year the Sanilac County Historic Village and Museum is participating in this worldwide event! Audience members and musicians are invited to an afternoon of free live music on four different “porches” on the museum grounds.

All performances will be acoustic, with no amplification. This is a free event, but all donations will support the Sanilac County Historical Society.

Dawn Malek, Museum director, assures us, “This will be a safe outdoor event for our community”  Social distancing is easy on our 10 acre property.  Just be sure to leave room for the length of a stand-up bass between you and others!Masks are encouraged, but optional.

The cheese wagon will be onsite at the event serving grilled cheese sandwiches, hot dogs, and other yummy, fresh cooked delights!

Musicians wishing to perform should contact Walt Schlichting at morrisman.geo@gmail.com to discuss being added to the schedule, or just bring an instrument, find a patch of shade, and set up and play!  All musical genres are welcome.

The event is being held at the Sanilac County Historic Village & Museum, located at 228 S. Ridge St (M25) in Port Sanilac, on Saturday, August 29th from noon – 3pm.  Attendees are asked to bring a lawn chair.  The General Store will be open for cold drinks, snacks, and unique gift options.
