MIS president looking forward to another big year

DETROIT (AP) - Michigan International Speedway President Roger Curtis says he'll let Brad Keselowski design his own trophy if he wins a Sprint Cup race at the venue. The Michigan-born Keselowski took the series title last year, but he's never won a Cup race at MIS. Curtis was in Detroit on Tuesday, where top NASCAR officials took part in a panel discussion on the new Gen-6 race car, which is making its debut this year. The Sprint Cup season begins at Daytona later this month. MIS will host races in June and August after an eventful 2012. The track was repaved before last season's races, and in June, Dale Earnhardt Jr. won there for his first Cup victory since 2008. The Gen-6 Media event was held at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. Autoweek partners with NASCAR to bring together the people and the cars that shape the automotive world of racing. The subject discussed were changes that allow manufacturers to produce race cars that more closely resemble the cars in the dealers show rooms and how this will affect the fans, industry, and NASCAR.
