NASHVILLE (AP) - Brad Paisley hopes you laugh as well as sing along to the Country Music Association Awards. He says it's a well-thought-out show and they put a lot of effort into the comedy as well as the performances. He wants the opening monologue to be memorable, so that in a few years viewers will look back on that and know it was 2013 because of the things he poked fun at. Paisley and Carrie Underwood will host the awards for the sixth straight time. Taylor Swift and Kacey Musgraves lead the nominations with six each. The CMAs will air live from Nashville tonight on ABC.
LAS VEGAS (AP) - Shania Twain will oversee thousands of running Santas. Twain will serve as the grand marshal for the Las Vegas Great Santa Run on December 7. The 5K race draws as many as 10,000 runners, many of whom dress in Santa costumes.
ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) - Selena Gomez will perform at halftime during the Cowboys-Raiders game on Thanksgiving. She's also part of the Salvation Army's Red Kettle Campaign, which kicks off during that game. Gomez says Dallas is her hometown and it's a great honor to be invited to perform there.
LOS ANGELES (AP) - With so many celebrities passing through Los Angeles International Airport at any given time, there were several around this past Friday when a gunman shot up a security checkpoint. One TSA officer was killed. Some of them kept fans posted on their experiences through Twitter. James Franco used an expletive to describe the person who he said "shot up the place." He also posted a selfie of himself sitting in an airplane window seat. "The Bachelor" host Chris Harrison told Twitter followers his flight made it out before the airport was shut down. He also praised what he called an "incredible" reaction by first responders. "Glee" star Mark Salling was among those who didn't make it to LAX - because the shooting was at the terminal to which he was headed. He tweeted that he was canceling a weekend trip to Dallas as a result of the chaos.
NEW YORK (AP) - Zac Brown is expanding his family. His representative tells People magazine Brown's wife, Shelly, is expecting. She's due early next year. Maybe the Browns will have a boy this time. They have four girls: Justice, Lucy, Georgia and Joni.
UNDATED (AP) - The Jonas Brothers will not release their planned fifth album, but fans who are members of the Team Jonas fan club will get it for free. The Jonas Brothers write on their Web site the digital-only album will contain four studio recordings and 10 live tracks from the past summer tour. The album was supposed to be called "V" and was set to come out in December. The Jonas Brothers say it's time for them to move on their individual career paths and they confirm their tour is canceled. They say, "We have been a band of brothers for 10 years and are now choosing simply to be brothers."
