(MARLETTE) -- The Marlette School Board of Education met last week. Board members were presented the 2011-12 audit report and received a clean or unqualified opinion for both the general and single audit, which was Food Service for 2012. The rating is the highest level of assurance possible. The General Fund balance on June 30, 2012 was just over $1.1 million, down $725,000 a year ago. The balance difference reflects one time federal money that has been spent.
In other business, board members accepted the bids for the asbestos abatement and demolition at Bea McDonald Elementary School. The asbestos abatement project was awarded to Trust Thermal Abatement with the low bid of $67,900 and the demolition project was awarded to Professional Thermal Systems, Inc. with a bid of $145,032.
