Sheridan Township mom accused in son's death a no show in court

(BAD AXE) -- An arrest warrant has been issued for 29-year old Jennifer Lynn Emerick, the Sheridan Township woman accused in the death of her 23-month old child last December. Emerick failed to appear in Huron County Circuit Court Monday for a pretrial hearing in the case. Her attorney was also absent after filing papers to waive the arraignment December 3 and not showing up for that hearing. Judge M. Richard Knoblock adjourned the hearing until next Monday, December 17 where attorney Leon Weiss will have to show cause why he should not be held in contempt of court for failing to appear in court for two consecutive weeks. Emerick has been charged with involuntary manslaughter and second-degree child abuse stemming from the death of Donavin Cochrane on December 29, 2011. Emerick had originally faced a second degree murder charge in the case. If arrested, Emerick will remain jailed without bond until her hearing Monday, December 17.
