(CARO) -- A Michigan State Police accident reconstructionist has been called in to help determine what happened when a 16-year-old Caro teen was struck by a car while tending to some dogs in a ditch. According to State Police at the Caro post, the accident happened shortly after 10 p.m. Friday when a 20-year-old Caro man was traveling north on Hurds Corner Road near Shabbona Road in Tuscola Couty's Ellington Township when he was blinded by the headlights of a parked vehicle, causing him to go into the ditch while trying to avoid it. The 16-year-old who was struck and another teen were in the ditch tending to the dogs. The boy who was struck suffered serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Covenant Hospital in Saginaw. The other boy was not injured. The driver and passenger in the car, which rolled over after impact, had minor injuries but refused medical treatment at the scene. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
