(ELK TOWNSHIP) -- Two people sustained non-life threatening injuries as the result of a two-vehicle accident that occurred Monday night at the intersection of M-19 and Stilson Road in Elk Township. Sanilac County Sheriff's deputies say the accident happened when a vehicle driven by 31-year old Rebekah Rathman-Wingate of Fort Gratiot turned north onto M-19 from Stilson Road and crossed over the center line into the path of another vehicle that was southbound on M-19. Wingate was not injured, however a passenger in her vehicle, 56-year old Robert Duda of Croswell became trapped and was extricated by Elk Township Rescue and transported to McKenzie Health System for treatment. The driver of the second car, a 25-year old St. Clair woman, was not injured. She was arrested at the scene for operating while intoxicated and lodged in the Sanilac County Jail. Her name is being withheld pending arraignment. A passenger in her vehicle, 40-year old April Baltierra, was taken to McKenzie Hospital for treatment. Deputies were assisted by State Police Troopers, the Elk Township Fire Department, Sanilac EMS and the Sandusky Police Department.
