(SANILAC COUNTY) -- Five Sanilac County Correction Deputies recently completed the Correction's Training Academy held at Mott Community College in Fenton. Deputies Britton Simon, Aaron Morden, Tracy Kensley, Caroline Thoms and Evans Ehardt graduated from the 4-week, 160 hour academy on October 26. The academy offers a comprehensive, interactive instruction program for corrections deputies in various disciplines. Training topics include custody and security, defensive tactics, first aid, suicide awareness, fire safety and interpersonal relations. The academy, certified by the Michigan Sheriff's Coordinating and Training Council, is an important element of providing the necessary skills for maintaining a safe, secure environment for correction deputies, inmates and county residents.
