(VASSAR) -- Hundreds of people waving American flags have shown up to give a hero's welcome to a soldier who lost all four limbs in Afghanistan. Army Staff Sgt. Travis Mills is visiting his Michigan hometown for the first time since an explosion took his arms and legs. He, his wife, and their 1-year-old daughter were the grand marshals Thursday at the homecoming parade for Vassar High School. Mills rode in a Jeep, waving his left prosthetic arm and sometimes his baseball cap as people screamed his name. Mills said earlier in the day that the outpouring of support has been "a lot to take in." Mills is one of a few servicemen to lose all four limbs during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars and survive.
