9-1-1 dispatch center has new home

Sanilac County 9-1-1 has a new home as of last night. 9-1-1 Director Dawn Cubitt said the old system went down at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning and the move was made to the new location on Dawson St. She said work continued throughout the day with the new system going live around 8 p.m.

During the day, the county used a back-up system to handle fire and law enforcement calls and also had Huron County dispatch on stand-by, if they needed additional help. Cubitt said she feels the move went very well. The six communication towers used by the county dispatch system have all been switched over with a few minor glitches still being worked out.

Cubitt said the new, non-emergency phone number for Central Dispatch is 648-2024.
