26-year-old Ubly man dead following motorcycle-truck accident in Moore Twp

A motorcycle and truck crash in Moore Township Wednesday evening left a 26-year-old Ubly man dead, according to the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office.

On Wednesday, April 12th , around 5:43 p.m., the Sanilac County Central Dispatch received a 9-1-1 call reporting motorcycle versus truck crash at the intersection of Ubly Road and Eddy Road in Moore Township.

Investigation determined that a 2022 Honda CBR500 motorcycle, operated by a 26- year-old Ubly man was traveling north on Ubly Road when he struck the rear end of a 2021 GMC box truck. The GMC operated by a 22-year-old Caro man had been northbound on Ubly and had slowed/stopped on the roadway to make a left turn onto Eddy Road.

The 26-year-old motorcyclist was transported by Sanilac EMS to McKenzie Memorial Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained from the crash, but later passed away. The Caro man was not injured.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash and the motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The crash remains under investigation by the Sanilac County Sheriff’s Office, and names will not be released at this time.

Deputies were assisted on scene by Moore Fire Department and Sanilac EMS.
