10-4 big buddy; Truckers cause back-up at bridge

(Port Huron Township) Traffic headaches were not only present atthe border crossings in the Detroit area as authorities with the St. Clair County Sheriff Department report similar backups at the Blue Water Bridge in Port Huron, and points west on I-69 and I-94.

Shortly after noon Tuesday, Sheriff Department officials said motorists were being advised to avoid eastbound I-94 and eastbound I-69 in the Port Huron area due to an extensive traffic backup.

St. Clair County Sheriff Mat King reported truckers who have been unable to travel from the U.S. to Canada via the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit due to a protest against Covid-19 vaccine mandates, have been heading to the Blue Water Bridge.

The Sheriff said as of noon, both lanes of eastbound traffic were backed up past Range Road and eastbound I-69 was also backed up.

Authorities were expecting the situation to get worse before it gets better. Trucks were also backed up at the Blue Water Bridge over the weekend.

Sheriff King says it is unknown when the congestion would be alleviated.
