Bike/Walking Path Meeting in Port Sanilac tonight -- Monday, February 8 2010
(PORT SANILAC) -- A public informational meeting regarding a proposed bike and walking path between Port Sanilac and Lexington is being held at the Bark Shanty Community Center in Port Sanilac tonight at 7 p.m. In addition to information sharing, the Port Sanilac to Lexington Bike Trail Committee will be seeking public input about the project. The path is projected to run along the east side of M-25 from Port Sanilac to Washington Road, where it will turn east to Greening Road and then south 8 miles to Townsend Road, then east to M-25 and finally south to downtown Lexington. According to Committee Chairman Chester Kolascz, the path is intended to be built in two phases over about nine years. Congresswoman Candice Miller was instrumental in securing $750,000 in federal funds for the project.
