Motorcycle collides with deer injuring driver and passenger -- Thursday, July 29 2010
(MAPLE VALLEY TOWNSHIP) -- An Allenton man and Capac woman were injured after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a deer Wednesday. Troopers from the State Police Post in Sandusky says the crash took place around 8:10 p.m. on Maple Valley Road north of Fisher Road in Sanilac County's Maple Valley Township. The motorcycle, driven by 54-year old Daniel Gundlach, was traveling north on Maple Valley when it struck the deer. Gundlach and his passenger Kathryn Sutherland were thrown from the bike. Both were transported to Marlette Regional Hospital for treatment of their injuries, which are unknown at this time. Troopers believe alcohol was a factor in the crash. Gundlach and Sutherland were both wearing helmets.
