(SANDUSKY) -- Local officials say that a "Mock Disaster" drill that took place at McKenzie Health System last week went well. The mock disaster scenario involved a mock collision between a Sanilac Medical Care Facility bus on a color tour and a beet truck. The mock scene was staged in the Sanilac Medical Care Facility parking lot with eight members of the Sandusky High School Drama Club playing the parts of both young adult workers and elderly patients. EMS responded to the emergency call. The "injured" were treated at the scene and then transported to McKenzie Health System for further treatment by the hospital's medical staff and clinical team. McKenzie Health System President and CEO, Steve Barnett says the purpose of the exercise was to test the effectiveness of the hospital's emergency response plans for a mass casualty event.
