Bad Axe man accused in 'Bath Salts' case back in court

(HURON COUNTY) -- The illegal "bath salts" case against a 48-year old Bad Axe man resumed in Huron County District Court last week, as Robert Alent was bound over to Circuit Court on eight felony counts stemming from a September raid. An extensive investigation led to search warrants at the Maple Lane Discount Store on N. VanDyke Street, owned by Alent, and his residence at 1030 Beech Street, both located in the city of Bad Axe. During a search of the business, officers seized records, documents, packaging and manufacturing materials, computers, and cash. The Drug Enforcement Agency was called to search the home on Beech Street due to the large amounts of hazardous materials that were used to manufacture illegal substances. Alent is accused delivering designer drugs and maintaining a drug house. He remains free on bond and is scheduled to appear for his Circuit Court arraignment on Monday, February 4, according to court records.
