(MILLINGTON) -- A quirky stunt a quarter-century ago and a 60-year relationship with a fast food chain has resulted in a Thumb area man's induction into White Castle hall of fame. Jim Work, a 69-year-old retired Livonia police officer, devised a late-1980's helicopter delivery of some White Castle hamburgers that earned him a place in the restaurant's history books. Work was one of 11 honorees for 2012 selected out of more than 700 applicants. Work says his idea for the helicopter delivery stunt grew from his and his fellow police officers' love for the bite-size burgers. He and his co-workers often had impromptu gatherings to enjoy sacks of White Castle sliders. Work now lives in Millington and says he doesn't get to White Castle now as much as in the past because the closest one is about 30 minutes away from him in Flint. There are 91 people in the White Castle Hall of Fame.
