(LEXINGTON TOWNSHIP) -- A 50-year old Dearborn Heights man was injured in a snowmobile accident Thursday afternoon in the 4400 block of E. Aitken Road in Sanilac County's Lexington Township. Sheriff's deputies say the crash at 1:30 p.m. took place after the driver, Leonard Distelrath, was stopped at Aitken Road near Old-51 and his throttle stuck causing the machine to cross the road at a high rate of speed. The snowmobile struck the north guardrail and threw Distelrath over the guardrail and 25-feet down into the Black River. Two Croswell residents who witnessed the accident, found Distelrath partially submergered in the water. He was transported to Port Huron Hospital by Croswell EMS for treatment of unknown injuries. Sheriff's deputies were assisted by the Croswell Police and Fire Departments and the Applegate Fire Department.
