Roseville man airlifted from scene of crash in Huron County

(GRANT TOWNSHIP) -- A 78-year old Roseville man was seriously injured in a two-car crash Thursday morning at the intersection of Gagetown and McAlpin Roads in Huron County's Grant Township. Sheriff Kelly Hanson says an investigation revealed that a vehicle driven by the Roseville man, Ronald Kopacki, was traveling north on Gagetown Road around 8:30 a.m. when he failed to stop at the stop sign and struck a westbound vehicle driven by 61-year old Robert Joles of Gagetown. Kopacki had to be freed from his vehicle by the Owendale Fire Department's Jaws of Life. He was flown from the scene by helicopter to a Saginaw area hospital. Joles and his 62-year old wife, Christine, were transported to Hills and Dales Hospital by ambulance with unknown injuries. Sheriff Hanson says that due to the increase of injury accidents involving failure to yield the right of way of other drivers, their will be stepped up patrols by Sheriff's deputies and Michigan State Police Troopers in an effort to combat the issue.
