(AREA) -- Sandusky High School graduates Patrick Brown and Melissa Sleda were this year's recipients of the Thee Valhalla Scholarship. Patrick, the son of Monica and Dennis Brown, plans to attend Heidelberg University in Tiffin, Ohio this fall to study business and compete on the Wrestling team. Melissa is the daughter of Doug and Bev Sleda. She plans to attend Lawrence Technological University and major in molecular and cell biology. The scholarship, which was established in 2002 by a Sandusky High School teacher, is administered through the Sanilac County Community Foundation.
Monica is also the recipient of the Kim Rhead Leadership Scholarship, which was established in 1999 by former state legislator Kim Rhead and his wife Margaret. They wanted to give something back to the community where they lived and raised their family.
