(SANILAC COUNTY) -- Visitors to Sanilac County's Forester Park are enjoying new handicapped accessible playground equipment thanks to the Sanilac County Park Millage and a grant through the DNR. The playground structure is the latest in a series of steps taken by the Sanilac County Park Commission to help make the county's park facilities accessible to all. The completed $50,000 project is located adjacent to the handicapped accessible sidewalk near the community pavilion. Along with a straight slide and a spiral slide, the structure includes a corkscrew climber, belt bridge, wiggle ladder, chinning bar, handloop and a clatterbridge. There are multiple items on the learning wall including a ball maze panel, Tic-Tac-Toe, a gear panel and an image reach panel. Forester Park Manager John Stefan says that even though the structure was just recently installed, it's already a hit with children and adults alike. The grant through the DNR was written by John Frazier of Marlette.
