(AREA) -- Carl Osentoski, Executive Director for Huron and Sanilac County Economic Development, was recently asked to participate in the Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Workgroup formed by the Michigan Senate. Knowing the importance of wind energy issues to the Thumb, Senator Phil Pavlov of St. Clair Township recommended Osentoski to serve on the workgroup and was instrumental in his appointment. Senator Mike Green of Mayville also provided assistance in advocating for the Thumb's interests. According to Senator Pavlov, Carl Osentoski has been a leader on renewable energy issues, particularly wind energy, and was the logical choice. Huron and Sanilac counties are the center of the wind energy industry in the state and the workgroup is tasked with reviewing the Clean, Renewable, and Efficient Energy Act and recommending changes or updates to the law. The workgroup will meet over the summer with the goal of developing draft language that will be considered by the Senate Energy and Technology Committee later this year.
