(MARLETTE) -- Marlette Regional Hospital will welcome family medicine physician, Dr. Allison Nichol beginning in mid-July. Dr. Nichol will serve patients in the Marlette area, working with Dr. Jabir Akhtar. Dr. Nichol is from Deckerville and has a strong desire to practice in the rural health setting. She is a certified athletic trainer and received her medical degree from A.T. Still University-Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency in family medicine at Botsford Hospital in Farmington Hills and is currently completing her fellowship in sports medicine at ProMedica Toledo Hospital. She has a passion for sports medicine and has worked closely with collegiate athletes. Dr. Nichol will provide primary care medical services to patients of all ages. Dr. Akhtar has expanded his office hours to include walk-ins and evening appointments Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
