Deputies track down Kraft Automotive B&E suspect

(ELMER TOWNSHIP) -- Sanilac County Sheriff's deputies were sent to investigate a breaking and entering complaint at Kraft Automotive at the corner of Marlette and Juhl Roads in Elmer Township Wednesday morning. The business owner found the overhead garage door open and several doors unlocked when he got to work just before 8 a.m. He also found a computer that had been tampered with and a pickup truck that was being worked on, moved from its location inside the business and damaged. Deputies were able to retrieve an internet site history and found the suspect had logged onto facebook, his email account, and visited several adult web sites. The 17-year old Marlette man was questioned and told deputies that he broke into the business, surfed in the internet and took the pickup for a ride in the country before returning it. The interview led to information on a separate breaking and entering and vehicle theft complaint at the same business that took place in August. The 17-year old suspect remains jailed on a $25,000 bond. His name is being held pending arraignment.
