(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) -- Congresswoman Candice Miller will be joined by Department of Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson this Friday, May 2 to tour the unfinished Blue Water Bridge Plaza in Port Huron. While visiting the Customs and Border Protection operations at the bridge, Congresswoman Miller and Secretary Johnson will focus on efforts to complete the project and additional efforts to expedite crossing. Congresswoman Miller is hopeful that Mr. Johnson's visit will open eyes on the importance of getting the job done. Miller added that after several years of no funding authorizations whatsoever for any of the land ports of entry, the President's 2015 budget only authorizes funds for improvements to Alexandria Bay in New York. A strong argument of the Congresswoman is the fact that the Blue Water Bridge carries more trade and commerce than any of the other ports mentioned in the Beyond the Border Agreement.
