(SANILAC COUNTY) -- Retired Sheriff's Deputy JoAnn Bye has been appointed as the new Sanilac County Recycling Center Manager, effective April 28. JoAnn has previous experience managing the center from 1993-1997. The Sanilac County Board of Commissioners made the decision after Sheriff Garry Biniecki announced his decision to stop allowing inmates to work at the center. Two part-time material sorters will assist in the operation as the board continues to focus on reducing landfill volumes through recycling. Volunteers and community service workers are need to help with sorting and community partners are needed to assist with website development, marketing, community outreach and volunteer training. The recycling center, located at 150 Orval Street in Sandusky, is open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. Recycling bins are also located at the Tri-City Landfill on Ruth Road, Argyle Township, Buel Hill, City of Marlette and Brown City.
