NEW YORK (AP) - You'd think with all the hoopla over the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' first performance on U.S. TV, a piece of memorabilia like this would have moved. But it didn't. An auction house tried to sell part of a stage backdrop signed by the Beatles during their Ed Sullivan show appearance. The 4-foot-by-2-foot plastic wall section was listed at $800,000 - but failed to draw that price. Other pieces of memorabilia from the Beatles appearance on Sullivan were for sale at the auction. They were bought by a collector who asked not to be identified.
