SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - It was where The Beatles played their last paid concert in 1966. And Paul McCartney will be back this summer to help create some history for San Francisco's Candlestick Park. The singer says he will perform August 14 at what is being billed as the last concert at the stadium, which was home to the San Francisco Giants. It almost didn't happen. McCartney's people had been looking at doing a show to open the new 49ers stadium in Santa Clara, California. But The San Francisco Chronicle reports city official felt slighted - since the mayor had personally invited McCartney to close down the "Stick." Looks like McCartney was swayed by the argument.
