Saginaw man injured in Lamotte Twp. crash

(LAMOTTE TOWNSHIP) -- Sanilac County Sheriff's deputies say a Saginaw man was hospitalized following a two-vehicle crash Tuesday morning at the intersection of M-53 and M-46 in Lamotte Township. Sheriff Garry Biniecki reports that the crash took place shortly before Noon when a vehicle traveling south on M-53, driven by 50-year old Rene Cole of Shelbyville, Indiana, failed to stop at the intersection with M-46. The Cole vehicle struck an eastbound vehicle driven by 53-year old Edward Hillert of Saginaw. Hillert was taken to Marlette Regional Hospital with unspecified injuries. Cole and her two passengers, 22-year old Kay Adams of Lapeer and 62-year Gerald Smaglinski of Shelbyville, Indiana, were not injured. Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Lamotte Township Fire Department and Marlette EMS.
