(MARLETTE) -- Marlette Regional Hospital recently purchased new technology that allows patients to have a sleep study test done in the comfort of their own home. The Sleep Lab at the hospital now offers Home Sleep Testing for patients with obstructive sleep apnea. OSA is a repeated interruption of normal breathing during sleep due to a collapse of the upper airway. The condition contributes to chronic diseases such as stroke, heart failure, diabetes, obesity, and congestive heart failure. Home Sleep Testing allows patients to be tested in the privacy of their own home. The equipment is small, lightweight and easy to use. Physicians make the determination of who qualifies for the home test.
