Deckerville Community Hospital Completes Active Shooter Training

(DECKERVILLE) -- Deckerville Community Hospital employees recently completed an Active Shooter Training Program. Attendees were taught the necessary steps to take in protecting themselves and others should the need arise. Sanilac County Sheriff's Sergeant Steve McKenny, Deputy Ron Dubois, and Deckerville Police Chief Tim Thorpe presented tools and information on the A.L.I.C.E Program, which stands for Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate. The program is designed to supplement traditional emergency procedures used frequently in workplaces as a defensive strategy in the event there is a violent intruder or active shooter on hospital grounds. Hospital employees had the opportunity to participate in scenarios inside the building.
