(MAPLE VALLEY TOWNSHIP) -- Sanilac County Sheriff's deputies responded to a two-vehicle accident that occurred Tuesday afternoon in Maple Valley Township. Investigation revealed that a 2008 Ford driven by 88-year old Thomas Karpovich of Brown City was heading east on Brooks Road just before 3:45 p.m. when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Shepard Road. The Karpovich vehicle then struck a northbound 2001 Ford, driven by 32-year old Brown City resident Eric Alholinna. Karpovich was transported to Marlette Regional Hospital for unspecified injuries. Alholinna was not injured. The Sanilac County Sheriff's department was assisted at the scene by the Brown City Fire Department and Marlette EMS.
