Imlay City woman seriously hurt in one-car crash

(IMLAY CITY) -- Lapeer County Sheriff's deputies believe alcohol was a factor in a single-vehicle crash Friday evening on Hunters Creek Road west of Fairgrounds Road in Imlay City. An investigation showed that a Ford Explorer driven by 38-year old Kelly Cusson of Imlay City was traveling east on Hunter Creek Road just before 7 p.m., when she lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a tree near the driver's side door. After being freed from the vehicle, Cusson was flown from the scene by Flight Care to Hurley Medical Center in Flint. She is listed in critical condition. Deputies say Cusson's 10-year old daughter Megena was transported to McLaren-Lapeer Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The crash remains under investigation.
