(LAPEER COUNTY) -- There were no injuries reported in a car-train collision that occurred Friday morning in Lapeer. Sheriff's deputies say a 49-year old Lapeer woman was traveling north on Lake Nepessing Road when she crossed the center line, entered the south lane, and struck the side of the train. After impact, the vehicle came to rest within the ditch. Deputies report that the railroad crossing arms were lowered for the westbound train; however, the driver stated that she and her passenger did not observe the train because she was distracted and was driving too fast for conditions. The driver was cited by authorities.
