(AREA) -- The Huron County Sheriff's Department is warning residents of an e-mail scam circulating in the area. A Harbor Beach resident contacted authorities last Friday after she received an e-mail claiming that there had been a warrant issued for her arrest. The e-mail instructed the resident to contact a representative from the State Attorney's Office by telephone to make arrangements for a settlement on the warrant before they are arrested. Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson reminds residents that when an arrest warrant is issued, it is very unlikely that any law enforcement agency would notify somebody through e-mail rather than sending an official letter or through telephone. If anyone receives an e-mail advising there is a warrant for their arrest they should immediately contact their local police department.
