(AREA) -- Thumb area Road Commissions are advising of potentially hazardous road conditions this weekend. Rain expected Friday night through Saturday will turn the already slippery gravel roads into extremely dangerous areas for motorists. In most areas, the back roads already have a couple of inches of ice on them from the recent ice storm during Christmas and last weekend's winter storm. Road Commission crews have removed a lot of the snow on top of the ice, but the rain will quickly wash away any remaining snow and make the back roads extremely slippery. The paved roads are still at freezing temperatures, so any rain will make the black top slick, as well. Authorities are reminding residents to drive with caution and avoid travel if possible so that road crews can tend to the roadways this weekend.
