(DELAWARE TOWNSHIP) -- The Sanilac County Sheriff's Department is investigating a snowmobile accident that sent a 45-year old Sandusky to Deckerville Community Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The crash happened just before Noon Saturday near Burgess Road and Palms Road in Delaware Township. Thomas Sokol was traveling across a field with a group of friends and struck a snowdrift causing the snowmobile to roll over several times and coming to rest on top of him. Sokol was treated at the scene by Sanilac EMS and was transported from the field by the Deckerville Fire Department's UTV and snow sled to the roadway and then to Deckerville Hospital. Sokol was wearing a helmet and alcohol was not a factor in the accident.
