(FORT GRATIOT TOWNSHIP) -- St. Clair County Sheriff's deputies say a 29-year old Lakeport man was injured early Monday morning after he fell asleep at the wheel of his vehicle. Sheriff Tim Donnellon says Roger Cash was traveling south in 5100 block of M-25 in Fort Gratiot Township shortly before 2:30 a.m. when his Ford Escape left the roadway, struck a mailbox and some pine trees and then a light pole guide wire. The vehicle flipped over and landed right side up in a snow bank. Cash told deputies he had fallen asleep while driving. He was transported to Port Huron Hospital by Tri-Hospital EMS with undisclosed injuries. Deputies say alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
