(MARLETTE TOWNSHIP) -- Two people were injured in a two-vehicle crash early Saturday, December 21 along M-53 near Airport Road in Sanilac County's Marlette Township. Sheriff's deputies say the incident occurred around 6:20 a.m. when 50-year old Marshall Lacross, Jr. of Fraser lost control of his Ford van while traveling north on M-53. Lacross crossed the centerline and struck a southbound Kappen Tree Service Ford Super Duty box truck driven by 28-year old Steven Walther of Deford. Walther was transported to Marlette Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Lacross was treated and released at the scene. Deputies say both men were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash and alcohol was not a factor. Authorities were assisted by Marlette EMS and the Marlette Fire Department.
