Sandusky school board talks bus policies

(SANDUSKY) -- The Sandusky School Board met Wednesday night and heard from several parents and citizens concerned over proposed changes to the district's transportation policy. The new guidelines require parents to designate only one pickup location and one drop off location for students riding the bus to and from school. Parents will no longer be allowed to contact the school and request that their child be dropped off at a different location, except in cases of an extreme emergency. School Board members cite student safety as the reason for the proposed changes. Several parents in attendance at Wednesday night's meeting said the changes aren't feasible with their work schedules. The board offered to table the new policy and seek further input from citizens. In other business, the Sandusky School Board accepted the retirement of the district's Athletic Director and Girl's Basketball Coach Al Demott, effective December 15th. Demott is expected to return to the district in January.
