(LAPEER COUNTY) -- Lapeer County will receive more than $1 million in road project grants from special funding set aside by the Michigan Legislature in the 2014 budget. State Representative Kevin Daley of Lum says the funding is going to help the bridges on I-69 over both Newark Road and Winslow Road. Both projects are part of a grant through the $115 million Roads and Risk Reserve Fund. Daley, Michigan Department of Transportation officials, and other state and local officials announced a list of region-wide projects Thursday. As part of the fiscal year 2014 state budget, the Legislature created the special fund using $230 million in existing state revenue. One-half of the funds were available for appropriation on October 1 and the other half could be appropriated for roads next year.
