Representative Lauwers helps get special funding for major Lapeer Road improvement project

(ST. CLAIR COUNTY) -- A $2.8 million state grant made possible by the Michigan Legislature will provide extensive improvements to Lapeer Road between Beech and Wadhams in St. Clair County. State Representative Dan Lauwers of Brockway Township made the announcement. Lauwers serves on the House Transportation Committee. After the Legislature created the road funding grants, Lauwers consulted with St. Clair County road officials about what improvements were most needed in the area. Lauwers then recommended the Lapeer Road project. Improvements will include resurfacing, and sewer and drainage improvements. Other road projects in Lauwers' legislative district include a $620,000 grant to resurface Shea Road from Palms Road to Marsh Road and a $270,000 grant to mill and fill Lapeer Road from 24th to 32nd streets.
