Huron County Sheriff's deputies have suspects in September "turfing" incidents

(HURON COUNY) -- Two suspects in several turfing incidents that took place in three Huron County fields back in September, have been identified. Huron County Sheriff Kelly Hanson says warrants are being sought for a former 22-year old Bad Axe resident, now living out of state and a former 24-year old Port Hope man that is currently incarcerated in the state. The incidents took place in a cornfield located on Swayze Road between Minden and Finkel Roads, where several paths had been cut through it with what appeared to be a light truck. More turfing damage was discovered at a nearby black bean field on Swayze Road. A third field, on Swayze Road, containing wheat stubble was found turfed. Sheriff Hanson says the suspect vehicle has also been identified. More than $11,000 worth of crop damage was reported.
