(BROWN CITY) -- Brown City School Board members held a special meeting Monday night for a board workshop budget review. Superintendent Jerry Steigerwald went over an amendment to the general fund budget and gave a brief explanation of the district's restricted and undesignated fund equity. Steigerwald informed the board that state funding and declining enrollment has impacted the budget and several money saving changes were suggested for the second semester including moving the Alternative Education Program to the high school from an off-site location and filling the Elementary Principal position internally. Board member Ron Marion suggested that the board go through the budget and see if they could come up with some different alternatives for cost-savings. Several guests voiced their concerns and also suggested other reductions for possible budget savings. The Brown City School Board will meet again Monday, December 16.
