(PORT HURON) -- Some items from a freighter that sunk in Lake Huron during the Storm of 1913 are being sold at the Port Huron Museum to help pay for its Storm of 1913 Remembered exhibit and events. Commercial diver Wayne Brusate recovered the artifacts after he found the SS Regina in 1986. He donated about 60 legally recovered items to the museum, and others to the Great Lakes Maritime Institute and Dossin Great Lakes Museum in Detroit. Brusate, Sanilac County Sheriff Garry Biniecki and John Severance found the 250-foot freighter in 80 feet of water about three and a half miles offshore between Lexington and Port Sanilac. It carried items such as whiskey, champagne and canned goods. Some items will remain in the museum.
