GM November US sales up nearly 14 percent

DETROIT (AP) - General Motors says its November U.S. sales rose nearly 14 percent on strong demand for pickup trucks, SUVs and large cars. The company says it sold more than 212,000 cars and trucks last month, up from nearly 187,000 a year ago. Sales of the Chevrolet Silverado pickup, GM's top-selling vehicle, rose 12 percent and sales of the GMC Sierra pickup increased 23 percent. GM's increase outpaced crosstown rival Ford, which reported a 7 percent gain. GM also was helped by sales of the Chevy Tahoe SUV, which rose 23 percent, and the Chevy Impala, which was up more than 20 percent. Healthy increases from GM and Chrysler are signs that U.S. sales will rise over November of last year, a strong month because of sales delayed by Superstorm Sandy.
