(LEXINGTON TOWNSHIP) -- Two people were injured in a single-vehicle crash Sunday afternoon along Black River Road near Hall Road in Sanilac County's Lexington Township when the driver attempted to avoid a flock of turkeys in the roadway. Sheriff's deputies say the incident took place around 4:30 p.m. when 19-year old Veronica Rapson of Port Huron lost control of the car on the gravel road. The vehicle spun sideways, traveled across Black River Road and struck a tree. Rapson and her 13-year old passenger were freed from the car and transported by Croswell EMS to a Port Huron area hospital for treatment of their injuries. Deputies say both occupants were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not a factor. Croswell and Lexington Police and DNR officers assisted at the scene.
