(STATE) -- The Michigan State Police Caro Post is dedicating extra traffic patrols during the Thanksgiving weekend. Starting today and continuing into Sunday, extra troopers will be patrolling Sanilac, Huron, and Tuscola counties. Caro Post Commander, First Lt. Mitch Kruglelkl says troopers' efforts will be concentrated on roadways most traveled, as well as locations throughout the counties where traffic crashes have historically occurred. Every Thanksgiving, law enforcement agencies throughout Michigan work to minimize traffic crashes during the busy travel period. The public is reminded to check the Michigan State Police Winter Travel Advisory for road and weather conditions before heading to their destination by going to www.michigan.gov/roadconditions, or calling 800-381-8477.
