(DECKERVILLE) -- Some Deckerville area residents lost telephone, cable or electrical service early Saturday morning after a piece of farm machinery took down cable lines and broke several poles. The incident took place around 6 a.m. at the intersection of Ruth and Nicol Roads. Deckerville Fire Chief Tracy Hoff says the tractor pulling a sugar beet cart was traveling along Nicol Road and the cart snagged a guide wire as it crossed Ruth Road, breaking six to eight poles, two of which were Detroit Edison poles. Telephone lines on the west side of Ruth Road and Comcast Cable lines on the east side were pulled down. The tractor operator was able to get out safely after officials determined that no electrical lines had fallen onto the tractor. Power was fully restored by early Saturday afternoon and no injuries were reported.
