Donations being accepted for those affected by fires in Lapeer

(LAPEER COUNTY) -- Churches and organizations in Lapeer are working to collect donations for the individuals and families affected by the recent fires downtown Lapeer. Love Inc. is the acting monetary donation center. The money will be used to assist those families with purchasing food, housing, personal items, and pay their bills. Those wishing to donate are asked to earmark donations for the "Fire Relief Fund" and mail or drop them off at any branch of Lapeer County Bank & Trust. For donations other than financial, residents are asked to call Love Inc. first, due to the numerous donations of clothing they have already received. The affected families are also in need of temporary or permanent housing. For more information on how you can help, contact Sue Brady at Love Inc. at 810-245-2414. Also, Project Homeless Connect, located at the Faith Christian Fellowship Church-69 W. Nepessing Street-in downtown Lapeer will be open to the general public providing clothing, coats, boots, and shoes to those in need Monday's from 9 a.m.-Noon and Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday's from 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
